In the 19th century in Japan, there lived a poor samurai named Kounosuke Ryuudo. His mother had hoped that he would become a great warrior, but due to a cruel curse, any metal that came near him was repelled and distorted. As a result, Ryuudo was unable to wield a sword or live as an honorable samurai. Feeling hopeless and destitute, he considered ending his life. However, a beautiful and mysterious woman saved him, marking the beginning of Ryuudo's journey into a world of magic that existed just beyond his own reality.

Taiyou to Tsuki no Hagane has been published in English as Steel of the Celestial Shadows by VIZ Media under the VIZ Signature imprint since January 16, 2024. The series has also been simulpub through VIZ Manga.
