In 1946, Earth discovered the existence of other worlds. As expected, many countries tried to send people into these worlds in search of valuable resources or magical treasures. However, none of them returned. Souya was not one of those explorers, but he accepted an offer from a shady company to earn enough money to save his sister. After being launched into another world, he discovered that his journey would be challenging. His teammates had gone missing and most of their food and weapons supply were destroyed during the transfer. The only option left was to move forward. With an AI companion by his side, Souya continued on his quest to find something worthwhile that could justify sending a rescue party, should one ever come.

Ihoujin, Dungeon ni Kuguru. began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on June 14, 2016. Kadokawa has released a revised and illustrated version of the series since February 5, 2019 under its Dragon Novels label.The series has been published in English as The Otherworlder, Exploring the Dungeon by Yen Press under its Yen On imprint since November 30, 2021.
