Renako Amaori, who was once a loner in middle school, has now made her high-school debut. However, despite wanting to embrace a cheerful lifestyle, she struggles to adjust due to her gloomy nature. It is then that she confides in Mai Ouzuka, the schools superstar, and they become secret friends. With Mai by her side, Renako feels more bearable about school life. But things take an unexpected turn when Renako confesses her feelings for Mai. "I fell in love with you," she says. However, Renako is hesitant to pursue a romantic relationship as she wants to maintain their friendship. Mai, on the other hand, seems uninterested in being friends and instead proposes a match to decide whether they are meant to be lovers or friends. And so, the nonstop romcom with their way of being on the line began.
