Yamato Kumai is a cheerful young man who lives in a rural area where Mitsuomi grew up. Although they are of the same age, Yamato seems much younger due to his positive attitude and energy. Despite their differences, Mitsuomi feels comfortable around Yamato and feels like he belongs in his hometown again. However, living in a small and conservative community can make it difficult for them to openly express their feelings or face judgment from the locals who may not understand their circumstances.

Restart wa Tadaima no Ato de was adapted to a live-action movie which was released on September 4, 2020.It was published in English as Restart After Coming Back Home by Seven Seas Entertainment on November 23, 2021.
