The storyline shifts from featuring Shibas and centers on Alisa Iba, also known as Alisa Juumonji, the half-sister of Katsuto Juumonji. This change occurred because their father had an affair prior to remarrying after his first wife's death.

Shin Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Cygnus no Otome-tachi began as a web novel on the authors personal website on July 10, 2020. Kadokawa has released a revised and illustrated version of the series since January 9, 2021 under its Dengeki Bunko label.
