In essence, Maria is a witch who lives during the Hundred Years War between England and France. She hates war and uses all her powers to stop it from harming the village she protects. However, the villagers may not appreciate her actions, and Heaven might take notice of her interference in human affairs. Despite this, there's a humorous aspect to the story with some historical elements included.
