In this story, Mitsuha Yamano accidentally falls from a cliff and is transported to a medieval European fantasy world. During her time in this new world, she discovers that she has the ability to travel back and forth between Earth and this fantasy realm. Mitsuha decides to make use of this ability as much as possible in order to save up for her retirement. Her ultimate goal is to accumulate eighty thousand gold coins. This narrative follows her creative strategies for achieving her financial objectives.

Rougo ni Sonaete Isekai de 8-manmai no Kinka wo Tamemasu was published digitally in English as Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for my Retirement by Sol Press from April 26, 2019 to December 14, 2020, print release started on September 27, 2019. Sol Press published only two volume, they went defunct. The series has been published in print by Kodansha USA under the Vertical imprint since April 18, 2023.
