Kanzaemon Hoshino was born as the third son to a pauper samurai and did not have permission to dream. However, he secretly had dreams about becoming the best archer in Toshiya, also known as the "Olympics of the Edo era." One day, an opportunity presented itself when Kanzaemon stopped a bull in front of Master Nagaya, who saw him as an unpolished prodigy.
