To prevent the village from starving, kasane, who has a limp, sacrifices himself by leaving his sister behind. upon arriving in the afterlife, he attempts to persuade murakumo, the god of the land, to bring rain. however, murakumo refuses and even rapes kasane. hurt and in pain, kasane pleads with murakumo for understanding. he yearns to know the depths of murakumos love for salvation, which unites two damaged individuals.
