Fuutarou Uesugi is a high school student with exceptional academic abilities who faces numerous challenges in his life. His mother has passed away, he lacks friends, and his father has accumulated significant debt. Despite these difficulties, he secures a well-paid job as a tutor for the Nakano family, who have recently transferred to his school. However, Fuutarou discovers that his five charges are identical quintuplet sisters who are uninterested in studying and have poor grades. Some of them are hesitant about having him as their tutor due to his status as a stranger, but his persistence and dedication eventually convince them to accept him and improve their academic performance. Throughout the series, Fuutarou develops unique relationships with each of the quintuplets. In a flashforward, it is revealed that he eventually marries one of them, but her true identity is only unveiled near the conclusion of the series.
