Professor Elm was taken aback when Gold picked one of the newly discovered Pokémon instead of choosing himself. In order to become the Pokémon Champion, he must defeat the Gym Leaders and claim their badges. Meanwhile, Team Rocket returns to its old ways of plotting nefarious schemes. To make matters worse, a shadowy figure appears, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
