In a future where virtual reality technology has advanced significantly and humans communicate almost exclusively through screens, can age-old legends become true? as society becomes increasingly totalitarian, personal interactions are becoming scarce. children are only allowed to interact with each other in person on school grounds. when a serial killer begins targeting junior high students, the communication routes undergo further surveillance. despite all safety measures put in place, the killer's latest victim was found to have been in contact with three young girls: mio tsuzki, hatsuki matsuno, and ayumi kono. as they try to satisfy their curiosity while living under terrorist scrutiny, hatsuki discovers that there is more to their monitored communications than meets the eye.
