The sequel to Dragon Quest Retsuden: Roto no Monshou takes place 20 years after Arus saved the world from the Demon Lord Imagine. Five years ago, magic stopped working due to an event called "the Day of Loss." In Alefgard's underground kingdom of Radatome, all inhabitants except for Aros and A-Kagi vanished in a single night. Aros became amnesiac after the traumatic experience, and was raised by A-Kagi and the Band of the Hawks. Later on, events led him to leave the Hawks and search for the truth behind "the Day of Loss" as well as his missing twin sister, who seems to be stealing sacred crystal orbs under orders from a young boy named Lamia. Meanwhile, Arus's companions have been systematically eliminated by unknown parties.
