A third-grade student named takamachi nanoha discovered an injured talking ferret while listening to his telepathic calls for help. it turned out that the ferret, named yuuno, was an archaeologist and mage from another world who had accidentally spread dangerous jewel seeds across earth. unable to collect them himself due to his weakened state, yuuno transformed into a ferret and required someone else's assistance. he gave nanoha a red jewel, which granted her the ability to transform and use magic to combat monsters that were threatening them because of the scattered seeds. however, their main concern was not the monsters but rather the fact that they were not alone in their quest to gather the jewel seeds.
