The narrative revolves around Koyomi Araragis experiences with love, sacrifice, and loss as he navigates through life's challenges. His decision to save a blonde vampire led to his death and rebirth as a monster, but this was only the beginning of the many choices and consequences that he would face. Despite having seemingly unbreakable relationships, Koyomi learns that these bonds do not last forever. He is faced with impossible decisions, such as severing ties with those he loves or remaining part of the world of monsters and apparitions. The story explores the theme of accepting or rejecting confessions and their potential impact on his life. Ultimately, Koyomi must come to terms with the consequences of his choices and face the possibility of loss and farewells.

The series was published in English by Vertical Inc: first with Nekomonogatari: Shiro as Nekomonogatari (White): Cat Tale on February 27, and Kabukimonogatari as Kabukimonogatari: Dandy Tale on May 29, 2018. Hanamonogatari, Otorimonogari, Onimonogatari, and Koimonogatari have also been licensed.
