In ancient times, before Christ, there was a king who sacrificed himself and his allies to defeat a demon fox that caused destruction and despair in his land. This same fox, known as Daji in China or Kayo in India, reappeared during the Heian period in Japan. Recently, Mikuzu's family suffered misfortune after the head of the household accidentally shot a fox with an arrow. Now, Mikuzu, who is a daughter of a ronin and has a childhood friend named Onioumaru, is searching for a way to cure her sick father. However, when the demon fox abducts Mikuzu, intending to continue its misadventures in a new incarnation, a battle ensues to save the girl and restore the seal that was used to defeat the fox in ancient times.
