The Ushiromiya family holds an annual gathering on Rokkenjima island, hosted by their eccentric head Kinzou. With his failing health, many believe he has little time left. As a typhoon rages outside, tensions rise amongst the family as they squabble over inheritance and being named Kinzous rightful heir. Upon returning to Rokkenjima after six years of absence, Battler, Kinzous grandson, expects an easy gathering. However, his grandfather has other plans; he creates a strange game where whoever finds the hidden gold receives the most valuable reward - leadership of the family. The game is plagued by violence and murder when participants are used as "sacrifices" to revive Beatrice, the Millennial Witch of Rokkenjima. Despite being skeptical about the occult, Battler questions whether it was magic or someone among them that caused so many deaths.
