Mahoujin Guruguru is a lighthearted animated series targeted at older kids, despite its occasional crude humor and innuendo that may surprise western parents. The show parodies early role-playing games, particularly turn-based ones like Final Fantasy. In these games, the narrator replaces dialogue, adding to the comedic element. On-screen information boxes with traditional RPG-style narration are also common. The main characters, Nike and Kukuri, aim to defeat Giri, the lord of darkness, as their ultimate goal.
