A modern fantasy that is based on Japanese Shinto legends tells the story of Suzuhara Izumiko, who is a 15-year-old girl. She has been raised and protected in a shrine located deep within the Kumano mountains. Despite being quite shy, she tends to destroy any electronic devices she comes into contact with. As she begins to consider leaving the mountains and moving to the city, her guardian Sagara Yukimasa advises her to attend high school in Tokyo and forces his son Miyuki to serve Izumiko for life. Although they initially repel each other, their relationship gradually changes when a terrifying accident occurs during a school excursion. It is then that Izumiko learns about her fate as the last representative (yorishiro) of a Himegami goddess and Miyuki discovers his duty as a guardian Yamabushi for Izumiko.
