In the anime series "sekai maihime," the main character, sekai maihime, is involved in a fatal train wreck that sends her back in time. there she discovers she has hidden powers connected to a doll named s. however, these powers come with limitations due to s's vague but kind guardian, sovieul, who is responsible for sekai's presence in 17th century france. despite this, sekai is determined to find her childhood friend and love midou, but she faces obstacles from machiavello (also known as the devil), who looks like midou and covets sekai's powers. to locate midou, sekai must work with s and sovieul while avoiding machiavello's attempts to obtain her body.

S to M no Sekai was published in English as The World Exists for Me by Tokyopop from December 13, 2005 to Apriil 11, 2006. It has also been published in Spanish by Norma, and in German by Planet Manga.
