In 2019, two childhood friends named Yashio Kaito and Senomiya Akiho were part of a high school robotics club. However, the club was at risk of being abolished. Akiho wanted to save it because she believed it was her last connection to her older sister who was a roboticist. Despite this, Akiho's friend Kaito was more interested in playing "Kill Ballad Online" than helping with their robotics club. However, as they progressed through the story, Kaitos obsession with Kill Ballad turned out to be beneficial for their robotics club and they met other allies along the way.
