Koichi Sugiyama is an esteemed composer from Japan who specializes in creating melodies for video games. His work includes the Dragon Quest series, which was produced by Square Enix and broadcast on various TV programs like Space Runaway Ideon, Cyborg 009, and Gatchaman. Aside from being a gifted conductor, Sugiyama is widely recognized as an influential figure in game music composition. He has inspired many other composers, including Nobuo Uematsu, earning him the nickname "Big boss of game music." Moreover, he is known for his patriotic views and serves as a council member of JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers, and Publishers) and honorary chairman of the Japanese Backgammon Society.
