Noboru Ishiguro was born in Tokyo, Japan on August 24th, 1938. In his youth, he played in a Hawaiian-style music band. As a result of this experience, he became an accomplished animation director who excelled at reading musical scores and utilized his background for works such as Macross: Do You Remember Love and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Ishiguro attended Nihon University's Department of Art and graduated in 1964. He later joined Onishi Pro, where he worked as a key animator on subcontracted Astro Boy episodes. In 1978, he founded Artland, which has been his home studio ever since. Ishiguro passed away on March 20th, 2012.
