FripSide is a Japanese indie pop band that was established in 2002. The group consists of two members - nao (vocalist and lyricist) and Satoshi Yaginuma (lyricist, synthesizer player, composer, and arranger). They also have other supporting members. On March 15, 2009, nao announced on the fripSide Official Website that she had graduated from the band. Nao and Sat wanted to pursue different musical paths; while Nao planned to start a solo singing career, Sat decided to continue with fripSide under a new project called "fripside THE NEXT PROJECT." Yoshino Nanjo was chosen as the replacement vocalist for nao in fripSide. She made her debut as the band's new singer with the single "only my railgun," which served as the opening theme song for the anime series, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.
