Masami Oobari, born on January 24th, 1966 in Hiroshima, Japan, is a renowned animator, character designer, and mechanical engineer who has made significant contributions to the anime industry. After completing his studies at Hiroshima Prefectural Miyajima Technical High School, he began working for Ashi Productions Co., Ltd (now known as Production Reed), where he honed his skills as a key animator on Transformers and Tokusou Kihei Dorvack. At the age of 19, Oobari debuted as a character and mecha designer on Dancougar, which marked the beginning of his successful career in anime production.
Following his departure from Ashi Productions, Oobari continued to work as an animator, character designer, and mechanical engineer on numerous projects. His directorial debut came at the young age of 21 when he directed the 5th and 6th Bubblegum Crisis OVAs. Currently, Masami Oobari is the Representative of Studio G-1 Neo, which he co-founded with his former wife, Ishida Atsuko. Together, they have produced some of the most popular anime series in Japan and around the world.
