In Aomori Prefecture, there is a secretive musical group known as amazarashi (アマザラシ), led by vocalist Hiromu Akita and keyboardist Toyokawa Manami. Despite not having any official public sightings, the band performs behind a screen during their concerts. Their music videos frequently incorporate computer graphics. The video for "Waiting for the Summer" received the Excellence Award at the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2010. Additionally, amazarashi was recognized at Annecy International Animated Film Festival, SIGGRAPH ASIA 2011, and one dot zero 2011 in London.
