The individual being described was born in Akita, Japan in the year 1980 and graduated from Tama Art University's graphic design department in 2004. They later completed a master course in design at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music in 2007. As an independent animator, they have created numerous short films and are known for their versatility as a creator. In addition to animation, they also compose music and have made videos for the rock band People In The Box. Their animation techniques include sketchy hand-drawings, shadow play, stop motion, and water painting on glass. Their works are often dreamlike in nature.
In 2007, their film "The Clockwork City" won the grand prize at the Kichijoji Animated Film Festival. It also received the grand prize at the ASK? Film Festival in 2008 and was awarded the excellent prize at the Tokyo International Anime Fair in the same year. In addition to these accolades, their work has been selected for exhibition at numerous other festivals, including the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Zagreb International Animated Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, and Japan Media Art Festival.
