Kamimura studied at Musashino art academy and later worked as an illustrator. In 1967, he made his debut with "Kawaiko Koyuri-chan no Daraku". His artwork adorned numerous books and record covers. He was known for challenging societal norms, such as in 1972 when he created a scandal with "Dousei Jidai" (depicting a swinging cohabitation of an unmarried couple). In the 70s and 80s, Kamimura established himself as a popular drawer for adult Manga (Gekiga), drawing approximately 400 pages per month. On January 11th, 1987, he died from a tumor in his pharynx.
