Gwendoline See-Hian Yeo was born in Singapore and is the niece of George Yeo, Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs. She moved to California as a teenager and graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory with honors in 1994. She received her BA from UCLA before the age of 20, graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and also earned a diploma in Classical Piano from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her love for music led her to specialize in playing traditional Chinese instruments such as guzheng, which culminated in a one-woman radio show on NPR-KCRW. Gwendoline was crowned Miss Chinatown USA in 1998-1999 and went on to host commercials and television shows.
Her acting career began with appearances in various beauty pageants, including winning the Miss Asian America Pageant in 1995 and the Miss Chinatown USA Pageant. She played Dr. Kelly Lee on General Hospital until March 2006 and has also appeared in TV series such as 24, JAG, NYPD Blue, The O.C., Hannah Montana, Chuck, Desperate Housewives, and more. Gwendoline is the voice actress of Paine in Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts II, Lady Deathstrike in X-Men Next Dimension, Mercy Graves in The Batman, Li-en in Zatch Bell!, and Lieutenant Keiko Tanaka in an episode of Whats New, Scooby Doo?. She has also appeared in films such as Daughters of Joy, Night Skies, The Perfect Girl, Broken Trail, and more.
Gwendoline is sometimes confused with another voice actress named Gwendolyn Lau.
