GLAY is a rock/pop band from Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan that was formed by Takuro and Teru in high school in 1988. The band primarily composes songs in the rock and pop genres but has also incorporated elements of other styles such as reggae and gospel into their music. As of 2008, GLAY had sold an estimated total of 51 million records, including 43 singles and 14 albums. The band's members include Takuro Kubo on guitar (leader and primary songwriter), Teruhiko Kobashi on vocals, Yoshihito Wayama on bass, Hisashi Tonomura on guitar, and Jiro on other instruments.
