Takami Akai

Akai enrolled at Osaka University of Arts with a major in fine art. During his time there, he designed the characters for the Daicon III opening animation. The main staff behind the Daicon III and IV openings later established Gainax, an animation studio. Akai was classmates with Hiroyuki Yamaga and Hideaki Anno at Osaka University of Arts. He is currently married to mangaka Higuchi, Kimiko.
