Youhei Sasakawa serves as chairman of The Nippon Foundation, which is one of Japans largest charitable foundations. He also holds positions as a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination and Japan's ambassador for the Human Rights of People Affected by leprosy. Sasakawa has been highly committed to fighting against leprosy, its accompanying stigma, and social discrimination for more than 40 years. As a pioneer in guiding public-interest activities by private entities in modern Japan, he is widely recognized as an influential figure in the field of philanthropy. Sasakawa received his degree from Meiji University's School of Political Science and Economics.
