Ichirou Tanida is a Japanese professional who specializes in commercial directing, graphic design, and creating computer-generated imagery (CGI). After completing his studies at Toyo Art School in 1986, he began working as a graphic designer at BISE. In 1987, he formed Neo-Art-Group with Hiro Sugiyama. Since then, he has released numerous works as a 3D CG creator, including founding John and Jane Doe Inc., a creative studio in 1996. He has also produced short films through ART DESIGN with Kashiwa Satou in 2004. Currently, he focuses on directing commercials but also works in various genres such as video, illustration, and CGI. He directs over 30 commercials annually. Recently, he has been producing wood carvings as well. Every year in the Commercial Directors File (a supplement that lists directors alphabetically), he exchanges private letters with fellow commercial director Ichirou Tani, whose name differs from his by only one letter.
