Fujio Akatsuka was a prominent Japanese artist who excelled at creating comical manga, earning him the nickname Gag Manga King. Initially, he began his career as an artist of shoujo manga, but after achieving success with Nama-chan in 1958, he specialized in comedy manga. His contributions to this genre were recognized and awarded with several prestigious accolades, including the Shogakukan Manga Award for Osomatsu-kun in 1964 and the Bungeishunjuu Manga Award for Tensai Bakabon in 1971.
