Born in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, Yoshikawa began his involvement with Sankai Juku while still a student at Tsukuba University's College of Natural Science. In 1980, he traveled to Europe with the group and later returned to Japan where he worked as a keyboardist for the rock band "Yapoos" from 1985 to 1993. After 1982, Yoshikawa worked on music for Sankai Juku alongside Takashi Kako and YAS-KAZ. Some of his most notable works include the production "HIBIKI," which received the Lawrence Olivier Award in 2002, NHK's program "The Miracle Planet," which won the JASRAC International Award in 1993, and the Sankai Juku production "TOKI - A Moment in the Weave Time," which received the Grand Prize at the 6th Asahi Performing Arts Awards in 2006.
