Ishida Atsuko was born on August 9, 1963 in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan. She is an animator, character designer, illustrator and mangaka who has worked on several adult games under the name of Ijuuin Mariko (伊集院マリ子). As a first-grader in high school, she was inspired by the cover of Animage magazine, which was drawn by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu. This led her to aim for a career in the animation industry. She joined Kaname Productions in January 1983 and was influenced by Kanada Yoshinori and Inomata Mutsumi. When Kaname Pro went out of business in 1988, she became a freelancer. Later, she co-founded Studio G-1 Neo with her ex-husband Oobari Masami. Since then, she has mostly focused on writing manga.
