Rie Fu  

Rie Fu was born in Tokyo, Japan but later relocated to Maryland from 1992 until 1995. During her time there, she received piano lessons and found inspiration. She then returned to Japan to complete her secondary education before graduating from Central Saint Martins college of the University of the Arts London with a degree in Fine Art Painting in July 2007. While studying at this institution, Rie Fu began writing songs after learning guitar. One of these compositions, "Life is Like a Boat," was later used as the ending theme for the popular anime series Bleach.
