Dream is a Japanese pop girl group that has been signed to Avex Trax and Rhythm Zone since 2000 and 2009 respectively. The group was formed as a result of the "Avex Dream 2000" talent contest in 1999, consisting of Mai Matsumuro, Kana Tachibana, and Yu Hasebe. Since their debut on Avex Trax in 2000, the group has undergone significant changes with none of the original trio remaining. The original trio sold over 950,700 records, and the group has sold a total of over 1,100,000 records over ten years. On July 7, 2002, Mai Matsumuro left to pursue a solo career, resulting in an eight-member (Dream) group with their debut single "Music is My Thing". Risa Ai departed on March 2004, leaving the band as a seven-member group until 2007. During this time, the bands name changed from dream to DRM. Yu Hasebe left in August 2008 to pursue a solo career, leaving Kana Tachibana as the only original member of Dream. Afterward, DRM became Dream again. In November 2010, Dream released their official major re-debut single "My Way Ulala" on the Rhythm Zone label and their first album as a six-member group titled Hands Up! in the same month. On November 24, 2010, Kana Tachibana announced that she would leave the group, marking the departure of the last member of the original three-member group. She officially left on February 20, 2011. Sayaka Yamamoto departed on March 30, 2012 to pursue a solo career.
