In 1968, Brazilian singer Sonia Rose released her first album which sold over 2 million copies and established her as the first Brazilian to produce the most albums in Japan with a total of 32. After that, she moved to Japan where she recorded her second album at EMI Studios. The album featured collaborations with renowned Japanese jazz musicians such as Sadao Watanabe and his quartet, Shunichi Makaino, Kunihiko Suzuki, Koichi Uzaki, and Akio Miyazawa. Her repertoire was heavily influenced by bossa nova, but her soft voice and some rhythmic similarities also contributed to the album's success.
