Seijun Suzuki is a multitalented individual who works in the film industry. He has directed, written, and acted in movies. His films are known for their unique visual style, humorous approach, nihilistic outlook, and entertainment-focused sensibility. During his time with Nikkatsu Company from 1956 to 1967, he made around 40 B-movies, mostly in the yakuza genre. However, his increasingly surreal style caused issues with the studio, leading to his dismissal for what is now considered one of his greatest works, Branded to Kill (1967). Despite this setback, Suzuki successfully sued the studio and was later blacklisted from movies for 10 years. During this time, he continued working as a writer and director in television series like Lupin III Part II. Later on, he gained critical acclaim and won a Japanese Academy Award for his Taishō Trilogy, which he produced as an independent filmmaker.
