Koyuki is a 14-year-old boy who feels unmotivated in life. However, his perspective changes when he rescues a dog named Beck from being bullied by some local kids. The owner of the dog, Ray Minami, is an aspiring guitarist and was once part of a popular rock band. Koyuki meets Ray again at a diner, where the older boy impresses him with his impressive guitar skills. Inspired by the glamour of Western rock culture, Koyuki decides to learn how to play the guitar and help Ray achieve his dream of leading a successful rock band. Along with Ray's younger sister Maho and other members, they form a band called BECK. The story follows their journey as they gain popularity in Japan.
