Coco, a young girl who comes from a family of dressmakers, has always been intrigued by magic and the witches who practice it. Despite their efforts to keep their methods secret from the general public, she couldn't help but be fascinated by this mysterious world. One day, Coco gets an opportunity to observe Qifrey, a skilled witch, at work. To her surprise, she discovers that her favorite children's book was actually a disguised magic manual all along! Enthusiastic about her newfound knowledge, she begins experimenting with different spells. However, when one of these spells goes awry and causes damage to her home, Qifrey comes to the rescue just in time. Realizing that Coco could be an asset in tracking down the Brimmed Caps-a dangerous group of heretics who dabble in forbidden body-altering magic and spread magical artifacts among the masses-he decides to train her as his apprentice. Before they can confront the Brimmed Caps, however, Coco must first improve her magical abilities and learn to work effectively with Qifrey's other students.
