Princess arete is kept locked up in the castle tower by her father, who wants to choose her husband for her. she enjoys watching the common people work from time to time. many men are competing to marry her and rule over the kingdom. however, she does not want any of this. instead, she dreams of meeting ordinary people and exploring foreign lands that she has only read about in books. one day, a sorcerer named boax arrives with an incredible flying machine and proposes taking arete as his wife and transforming her into a true princess.
