In the not-too-distant future, humankind embarks on its first interstellar voyages, leading them to encounter a colossal species of extraterrestrial beings known as "Space Beasts." These creatures appear intent on the annihilation of humanity as they draw nearer and nearer to Earth's discovery. In response, humans create gargantuan war machines controlled by gifted young individuals from across the globe. Following the revelation of these extraterrestrial beings, Noriko Takaya, daughter of a renowned deceased astronaut, enrolls in a training academy despite her questionable flying abilities. There, she crosses paths with Kazumi Amano, an exceptionally skilled and attractive pilot, and is unexpectedly paired with him as they work together to overcome the emotional scars left by warfare and their own personal feelings.
