Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru

Giovanni is a young boy who resides near a small village with rustic surroundings. His mother is ill, and his father has gone to sea on a fishing boat without returning home. At school, he feels isolated and has only one friend - the mayor's son, Campanella. During the town festival of stars, Giovanni daydreams while sitting atop a hill and sees a train floating in mid-air. He gets onto it and finds his friend Campanella already there. The two embark on an interstellar journey together where they encounter unique individuals and visit stunning as well as eerie locations.
Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru is based on the 1934 classic childrens story by the esteemed author Kenji Miyazawa.The movie won the Oofuji Noburou Award at the Mainichi Film Awards in 1985.
