Nagomi Wahira has always been fascinated by the adorable girls who work at maid cafes. In order to achieve her dream of becoming one, she relocates to Akihabara and takes a job at Ton Tokoton, a popular maid cafe. On her first day, things seem ordinary until Nagomi is tasked with running an errand at a rival establishment alongside another new recruit, Ranko Mannen. However, this seemingly routine mission quickly turns into a violent confrontation between the two maid cafes. As she watches Ranko effortlessly fight off hordes of armed and dangerous maids, Nagomi comes to terms with the stark difference between her idylized vision of maid cafes and the harsh reality she now faces. While grappling with these new realities, Nagomi seeks to discover the enjoyment that once drew her to this profession.
The word "Meido" (冥途) in the title is a play on words, where the kanji means "underworld," and is pronounced the same as "maid" in Japanese pronunciation.
