Suddenly, a group of alien creatures appeared on earth. they were parasitic beings that quickly invaded humanity by attaching themselves to people's brains. these creatures fed off the hosts' bodies and could change into different forms to hunt for prey. a sixteen-year-old high school student named shinichi izumi was one of the unfortunate victims, but his parasite failed to take over his brain and instead landed in his right hand. since it couldn't move, migi had no choice but to rely on shinichi to stay alive. as a result, the two were forced into an uncomfortable partnership and needed to protect themselves from other hostile parasites that wanted to eliminate them.

The anime was simulcast by Crunchyroll outside of Asia.Aside from the manga and anime, the series also has two live-action film adaptations.The Chinese Ministry of Culture blacklisted Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu as well as 37 other works on June 9, 2015.
