The story of Yojouhan Time Machine Blues unfolds on a hot summer day when Ozu, the main character's "terrible friend," accidentally drowns their air conditioning unit's only remote control. As they discuss their predicament with Akashi, the love interest, a disheveled time-traveling student from 25 years in the future arrives, causing Ozu to borrow his time machine to retrieve the lost remote control before it malfunctions.
The sequel novel was inspired by Makoto Uedas 2001 stage play Summer Time Machine Blues. The stage play was adapted into a live-action film in September 2005.(Source: MAL News)
