In Vandread, individuals hailing from Mars are referred to as males while those originating from Venus are females. However, this is not entirely accurate as humanity has successfully colonized the entire Milky Way galaxy and resides on two distinct planets within a specific star system - Taraak and Mejere. As a result of advanced technology, gender differences have escalated to the point where individuals no longer perceive each other as members of the same species.
Hibiki Tokai, a third-class laborer from Taraak, finds himself stranded on a battleship following an unsuccessful attempt at stealing a robot. The situation worsens when female pirates capture the Vanguard, a ship manned by male crew members from Taraak. Despite this setback, things take a turn for the worse as the desperate male crew of the Vanguard fires on their captured vessel, inadvertently creating a massive wormhole that sucks both ships into its depths. Now, these individuals must learn to cooperate and work together if they hope to return home.
