Welcome to the world of Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Zexal, where we follow the journey of Yuuma Tsukumo as he strives to become the greatest Duel Monsters champion in the futuristic city of Heartland. As an amateur duelist with a passion for the sport, Yuuma has learned the basics from his father who mysteriously disappeared long ago. Despite this setback, Yuuma continues to push himself and prove his worth when he faces off against a bully to recover stolen cards. However, things take a turn when Astral appears, a mysterious spirit with lost memories split into 99 dangerous cards called Numbers. These cards possess the will of their own and can bring out the deepest desires of any duelist who uses them. Seeing that Astral is skilled in dueling and wanting to improve himself, Yuuma reluctantly agrees to help him recover the Numbers. However, they are not alone as many other parties seek these powerful cards with malicious intentions.

Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Zexal, the fourth anime installment of the Yu☆Gi☆Oh! franchise, introduced the concept of XYZ Monsters to the series. It was the first Yu☆Gi☆Oh! anime to have every episode dubbed in English since Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Duel Monsters.
